Joule / Weekend Coffee

One of my favorite places I have discovered in downtown Dallas is the Joule hotel and its coffee shop Weekend Coffee. This has become my new coffee shop and I just love it. The people that I have met that work in the Joule are all very nice and help make the environment what it is. Here you have this posh hotel with great customer service. They treat the people that walk in off the street with the same respect as someone staying there.

The coffee is great. When you order a cup of coffee they make each cup fresh by dripping it which means it takes longer but tastes so good! They serve your coffee on a wooden board with a small glass of carbonated water. You can go and sit in the lobby of the hotel and they will actually bring you your coffee. My favorite two drinks are their Macchiato and Red Eye. The Macchiato is a shot of espresso with a little bit of milk foam on top. The Red Eye is a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso.

The hotel places bottles of water in various corners of the lobby for the guests to use. If you have a glass of water, they will come and fill up your glass for you!

I don’t remember the last time I actually sat down and read a newspaper. The Weekend coffee shop has all of the main newspapers sitting out for their customers to read without paying for them. I now love coming to the Joule for coffee and reading through a newspaper. This morning I read the Wall Street Journal.

Their gift shop is fun to peruse through as well and again the customer service was great. The lady working took the time to tell me about the interesting trinkets they had in the shop. It’s worth a visit if you have time!

They also have a library which is a cozy room with a couch and table for lounging while you peruse through their books. They sell these books so is not a lending library. I enjoyed perusing the various books and look forward to getting a glass of wine and returning to the library to peruse more of their books.

Which brings me up to the fact that the have a small bar in the lobby as well. You can choose to drink at the bar or you can get a glass and sit in one of the many lounging areas in the lobby or the library. The folks behind the bar again are very nice. They have cups on the bar with various edible items and I was guessing what each item was. The two I wasn’t sure on where actual hazel nuts that they would grind fresh for drinks and also gingered candy which they let me try.

The Joule also has two restaurants which I have not tried yet but have been inside of and look forward to sampling their food.
